Alerts aren't being received
When your BRNKL 5G stops sending alerts, the cause is usually one of a few known behaviours, not a hardware fault. Work through these before suspecting the unit or a sensor.
The BRNKL app is open
Push notifications are suppressed on any device with the app open in the foreground. The alert still records and shows on the Alerts screen, but no push is sent. This is the most common cause — especially when someone watches the app while tripping a sensor to test it. Fully close the app on every device that needs notifications.
The system is disarmed
Alerts only generate while the system is Armed. Confirm the app shows Armed. If alerts still aren't sent, cycle Armed → Disarmed → Armed — this clears most arming-related issues.
A recent alert silenced repeats
Each sensor is silenced for 15 minutes after it alerts. It won't re-alert within that window, and a sensor that stays triggered alerts only once, at the start. Silencing is per sensor, so a beam and a door alert independently. Repeatedly tripping one sensor to test it produces a single alert — wait 15 minutes, or test a different sensor.
A sensor's settings were changed
Changing a sensor's Alert On state or its high/low state names can stop it alerting. If alerts worked and then stopped, check Settings > Devices and confirm Alert On is set correctly for each sensor.
Confirm the sensor is detecting
If one sensor never alerts, confirm it's changing state. Open it in Settings > Devices and check its graph — it should move as the sensor is triggered. No change means a detection problem (wiring or the sensor), not notifications.
