Add shore power sensor (hardwired)
This page covers the device-specific wiring for a BRNKL Shore Power Hardwire Sensor. For general device setup and settings, see Add a device.
The Shore Power Hardwire Sensor detects whether AC shore power is connected or disconnected by monitoring the AC panel directly. Useful for alerting when shore power is lost unexpectedly while the boat is unattended.
Uses the dedicated shore power slot (slot 9) on the BRNKL connector.
Prerequisites
BRNKL Shore Power Hardwire Sensor
Access to the non-inverted side of the AC electrical panel
Licensed electrician or certified professional installer for AC panel connections
Working with AC power is dangerous. Hire a licensed electrician or certified professional installer to make AC panel connections.
Install the sensor
Mount the sensor in a stable location close to the AC electrical panel, with access to the non-inverted side of the panel.
Wiring
AC (N) terminal → non-inverted Neutral terminal on AC panel.
AC (L) terminal → non-inverted Line terminal on AC panel.
−Vo terminal → common ground terminal.
+Vo terminal → BRNKL connector — slot 9 (shore power).
Configure
In the BRNKL app, go to Settings > Devices > Shore Power.
This is a Shore Power input. Recommended settings:
Monitor — on
Alert — on
Alert On — Low (alerts when shore power disconnects)
Tap Save.
Test
Wait 15 minutes for settings to sync.
With shore power connected, confirm the dashboard shows Connected.
Disconnect shore power. The dashboard should switch to Disconnected and trigger an alert if armed.
Reconnect shore power and confirm it returns to Connected.
Troubleshooting
Dashboard shows Disconnected with shore power connected — verify AC (N) and AC (L) are connected to the non-inverted side of the panel, not the inverted (generator/inverter) side.
No reading on dashboard — check that +Vo is wired to slot 9 and −Vo to a common ground, and that Monitor is enabled in the app.
