System Components

The BRNKL Black Portable (BBP) is built into a rugged Nanuk case containing all necessary electronics for portable vessel monitoring and data logging.

BRNKL Black

  • Purpose: Primary vessel monitoring unit: collects data from NMEA 2000 network, GPS, and connected sensors.

  • Power: Receives power from the BBP system and includes an internal battery providing ~15 minutes of runtime after external power loss.

  • Location: Mounted inside the case.

  • Purpose: Provides local and remote network connectivity.

  • Modes:

    • Local access: Acts as a Wi-Fi access point for connecting to the BBP locally.

    • Internet access: Connects via cellular (SIM required) or Wi-Fi WAN.

  • Location: Mounted inside the case.

POE Injector

  • Purpose: Supplies Power over Ethernet to an external POE camera.

  • Connection: Linked to the external Ethernet port on the front panel.

Front Panel Connectors (Under Handle)

  • NMEA 2000 Connector: Connects to the vessel's NMEA 2000 backbone using a standard drop cable.

  • GPS Antenna Connector: External GPS input for BRNKL Black.

  • POE Ethernet Port: For connecting an optional POE camera.

  • I/O Connector: Allows integration with additional input/output devices.

Power Connections (Sides of Lid)

  • DC Barrel Jack: 10–30 V DC input.

  • USB-C PD Passthrough Port: Allows powering via USB-C PD source or charging an internal power bank.

Accessories (Varies by Unit)

  • POE Camera: May be included depending on deployment.

  • Velcro Straps: For securing an internal power bank.
