Troubleshooting

The BRNKL Black Portable - NATO is designed for rapid setup, but in some cases issues may arise during installation or operation.
This section covers common problems, LED status references, and quick fixes.

Common Issues and Fixes

No Power / Unit Not Starting

  • Check the power source — ensure DC (10–30 V) supply is connected.

  • Confirm the internal barrel jack is connected to the correct input (DC vs. USB-C PD).

  • Verify the source can supply ≥60 W.

  • If using a power bank, confirm it supports USB-C PD and is charged.

Router Keeps Rebooting

  • Power banks often interrupt output briefly when charging starts or stops.

  • This will cause the Peplink router to reboot (boot time up to 5 minutes).

  • The BRNKL Black will remain active on its internal battery (~15 minutes) and will re-connect when the router is back online.

  • To avoid interruptions, use a stable USB-C PD wall adapter or DC input when possible.

USB-C Bulkhead Port Not Working

  • Some USB-C cables require being rotated 180° in the bulkhead port to make a connection.

  • If the connection fails, flip the cable and re-insert.

No NMEA 2000 Data Appearing

  • Confirm the vessel's NMEA 2000 network is powered.

  • Verify the drop cable is securely connected to the front panel port.

  • In the BRNKL Black interface:

    • Navigate to Settings → Devices → NMEA 2000.

    • Ensure the correct endpoints are selected for monitoring.

Cannot Access the BRNKL Black

  • Verify you are connected to the Peplink Wi-Fi.

  • Try accessing locally at http://192.168.50.100.

  • If internet is available, use the secure tunnel URL or QR code.

  • Confirm you are using the correct Device Manager credentials.
